Liverpool starts new era under Slot with victory at Ipswich and Salah sets scoring record

Liverpool’s start under new manager Arne Slot kicked off successfully with a 2-0 win against newly promoted Ipswich. Star player Mohamed Salah made history by scoring the second goal, setting a Premier League record with nine goals in the opening round, surpassing legends Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer, and Frank Lampard.

Salah’s close-range finish in the 65th minute was followed by an assist to Diogo Jota five minutes later, securing Liverpool’s victory. The team, now under Slot’s management after Jurgen Klopp, had a slow start but picked up the pace in the second half.

While Liverpool and Manchester United (who won 1-0 against Fulham) began the season strong, Ipswich faced a challenging lesson in their return to the top flight after nearly two decades. Even with pop star Ed Sheeran cheering from a VIP box, Ipswich’s open and expansive style may lead to conceding many goals this season.

The day also saw Arsenal, runner-up in the last two seasons, face Wolverhampton in one of the five later matches. Reigning champions Manchester City are set to kick off their title defense against Chelsea on Sunday, adding to the excitement of the new Premier League season.
