Ten U.S. Navy crew members involved in a helicopter training exercise in northern Nevada were injured and subsequently released from the hospital in Reno. The incident occurred during routine training with two MH-60S Seahawk helicopters at Naval Air Station Fallon, approximately 65 miles east of Reno. The Navy is investigating the cause of the “mishap” that led to the crew members’ injuries, which were reported as non-life-threatening.

The two helicopters, each carrying a crew of five personnel, were engaged in regular training activities when the accident took place on Thursday night. Security personnel at NAS Fallon have secured the area where the incident occurred, situated in a remote part of the Fallon Range Training Complex. The aircraft involved are part of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 12, which is under the command of Carrier Air Wing 5 and currently stationed at NAS Fallon for comprehensive training in both real-world and simulated scenarios.

A statement from Lt. Cmdr. Beth Teach, the spokesperson for the Naval Air Force Pacific in Coronado, California, provided details on the training activities being conducted by the helicopters. The Navy is diligently looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the factors that led to the injuries sustained by the crew members during the exercise in the Nevada desert.
