Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose have officially ended their seven-month marriage after finalizing their divorce in Tennessee. The 62-year-old Cyrus filed for divorce from the 36-year-old Johanna Rose Hodges three months ago, citing irreconcilable differences and “inappropriate marital conduct.”
Cyrus’ lawyers announced that a settlement was reached between Cyrus and Hodges last Friday, bringing closure to the situation. They expressed relief on Cyrus’ behalf, stating, “I’m just very relieved… and giving thanks today to breathe a sigh of relief. It’s unfortunate… it played out this way. It was a matter of the heart. Love is blind … that’s for sure.”
According to court documents, no spousal support will be paid by either party, and the division of assets will primarily consider ownership established before their marriage. The initial filing mentioned Cyrus seeking annulment due to alleged fraud by Hodges.
The lawyers of Hodges have not responded to requests for comments on the matter. Notably, Hodges changed her last name to Cyrus before mediation, which supports Cyrus’ claim that she married him solely for his surname.
The musicians had gotten married in October 2023 and had been residing in Tennessee, collaborating on several music projects. Cyrus will be handing over ownership, master rights, copyright interests, and royalties for the music and intellectual property they worked on together during their marriage to Hodges.
This marks Cyrus’ second divorce, his first being with Tish Cyrus, with whom he shares five children, including the well-known musician and actor Miley Cyrus. Their divorce in 2022 followed nearly three decades of marriage, during which they previously halted divorce proceedings in 2010 and 2013.
The 2022 divorce had led to publicized tension within the Cyrus family. Miley Cyrus even hinted at discord when, upon winning her first Grammy Award in February, she acknowledged her family members but noticeably omitted mentioning her father and former “Hannah Montana” co-star, Billy Ray Cyrus.
