Colorado coach Deion Sanders showcased his appreciation for fellow coaches at the Big 12 media days, including Gus Malzahn and Joey McGuire who had connections to his son, Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders praised Malzahn’s consistency and coaching skills, highlighting his recruitment of Shedeur. The Buffaloes, under Sanders’ leadership, are returning to the Big 12 after 13 seasons in the Pac-12.
Sanders also commended Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy and Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark, referring to them as legends. He expressed admiration for McGuire’s coaching abilities and sent his love and appreciation to him, acknowledging McGuire’s continuous great coaching work at Texas Tech.
Sanders mentioned the upcoming game between Colorado and Texas Tech on Nov. 9, with the Buffaloes starting their season on Aug. 29 against North Dakota State. The Big 12 will expand to a 16-team league with the addition of Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah as official members in August. All four schools participated in the media event held in Las Vegas, concluding on Wednesday.
