Warehouse fire in Virginia results in minor injuries for 15 firefighters

In South Hill, Virginia, a large fire broke out at a fertilizer warehouse, resulting in fifteen firefighters sustaining injuries while battling the flames. These injuries were deemed non-life threatening and were caused by exposure to chemicals, heat exhaustion, minor scrapes, and burns. The incident occurred at the Nutrien Ag Solutions facility on Saturday, as reported by the town’s volunteer fire department on Facebook. Authorities advised individuals in the vicinity to evacuate voluntarily and instructed others to steer clear of the area and seek shelter.
The fire has since been contained, according to the fire department. The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is closely monitoring the situation as runoff from the fire has affected nearby creeks, as mentioned by the fire department. The cleanup process is expected to be extensive, taking weeks for the involved agencies and a prolonged period for the affected property.
Reports indicated that the fire was initiated when a person drove into the building. Fire officials stated that this individual was taken to the hospital due to sustaining burns.
