Last month, Elon Musk hosted an exclusive dinner party dubbed “anti-Joe Biden,” gathering some of the world’s wealthiest and most influential individuals. Co-hosted by entrepreneur and investor David Sacks, the elite event took place at Sacks’ lavish mansion in the Hollywood Hills, as first reported by Puck. Attendees engaged in discussions primarily centered around fundraising efforts to counter Democrats, according to sources.
Although labeled “anti-Biden” by Puck, the gathering was not explicitly in support of former President Donald Trump, as noted by Sacks himself, who criticized Trump’s actions on January 6, stating that they disqualified him from national candidacy. Notable guests reportedly included Peter Thiel, Rupert Murdoch, Michael Milken, and Travis Kalanick.
Immigration emerged as a prominent topic of discussion during the dinner, as highlighted by Puck’s report. Musk, the world’s second-richest individual, has increasingly shown interest in political matters, often associating with global leaders and sharing diverse political views on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
While Musk has refrained from endorsing any candidate for the upcoming US presidential election, he has indicated his discontent with both Biden and Trump’s campaigns, expressing his intention not to donate to either. Despite voting for Biden in 2020, Musk later voiced his reluctance to support him again.
Critically, Musk has openly criticized Biden’s immigration policies and called for the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, citing alleged violations of law and unprecedented increases in illegal immigration.
Furthermore, Musk’s advocacy for free speech on X is well-known, along with his criticism of figures like Anthony Fauci, the former chief medical advisor to the president. Musk’s past critiques extend to Trump as well; he resigned from Trump’s advisory councils in 2017 following the US withdrawal from the Paris climate accord.
In a reciprocal exchange, Trump referred to Musk as a “bulls*** artist” in July 2022, prompting Musk to suggest it was time for Trump to step away from the limelight.
Other attendees at the dinner have also been closely associated with Trump, including Michael Milken, whom Trump pardoned, and Steven Mnuchin, the former treasury secretary under the Trump administration. Rounding out the guest list were media mogul Rupert Murdoch, former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, who notably supported Trump in the 2016 presidential race.
