This fall, a memoir that Lisa Marie Presley was actively working on at the time of her passing is set to be published. The book, currently without a title, has been finalized with the assistance of actor Riley Keough, the eldest among Presley’s four children.

In a statement released by publisher Random House on Thursday, Keough expressed gratitude for the opportunity to delve into her mother’s life beyond being known as Elvis’s daughter. She acknowledged the bittersweet privilege of preparing Lisa Marie’s autobiography for publication and expressed excitement about sharing her mother’s most vulnerable and honest moments. Keough hopes that through the memoir, readers will come to love Lisa Marie as much as she did.

The book is slated for release on October 15, with financial terms undisclosed.

Lisa Marie Presley, the singular offspring of Elvis and Priscilla Presley and a recording artist in her own right, passed away almost a year ago at the age of 54. A coroner’s investigation determined that the singer-actor succumbed to complications from bariatric surgery conducted years earlier. Lisa Marie now rests at the Graceland family estate in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was on the day her father passed away in 1977.

Random House shared that Lisa Marie had initially wanted her daughter to contribute to her memoir. However, Keough had postponed the project, believing that the right time for them to collaborate would come. Following Presley’s demise, Keough dedicated hours to listening to her mother’s tapes, recorded as part of her life story preparation.

Random House’s announcement revealed that Riley Keough recognized it was the moment for Lisa Marie’s voice to be heard. Keough listened to her mother recount numerous stories, from the profound love she felt from her father to the complexities of her relationship with her mother Priscilla. The memoir delves into Lisa Marie’s upbringing with constant media attention, her personal love stories, marriages to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage, and the heartbreaking loss of her son, Benjamin Keough, to suicide.

Described as a “raw, riveting, one-of-a-kind memoir,” the book primarily unfolds through Lisa Marie Presley’s narrative, with Riley contributing insights from her own memories and those closest to her mother. An audio edition, read by Keough, will also feature excerpts from Lisa Marie’s recorded recollections.
