A grand jury in Travis County, Texas, has decided not to indict SWAT officers Jared Carruth, Kevin Olejar, and Sgt. Kevin De La Rue in the fatal shooting of Ahmed Mohamed Nassar.

Nassar was implicated in the shooting death of Officer Jorge Pastore and suspected of killing his mother, Ahmed Elnemrnassar, and brother, Riad Mohamed Nassar.

The grand jury’s decision, announced by District Attorney José Garza, stated that the officers, who responded to a call reporting a stabbing in the home, acted in self-defense and were not criminally responsible for Nassar’s death.

The SWAT team confronted Nassar, who wounded one officer before being fatally shot by other officers during the standoff. The status of the officers involved has not been disclosed, and requests for comments from Austin police and Garza’s spokespersons were unanswered.
