In Mammoth, Wyoming, five individuals managed to escape a hazardous pond in Yellowstone National Park after their SUV veered off the road and into a dormant geyser, as stated by park authorities on Friday. The passengers successfully got out of the 105-degree Fahrenheit (41 degrees Celsius) water following the accident on Thursday morning and were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, noted park spokesperson Morgan Warthin in a released statement. The route was blocked for approximately two hours as the SUV was pulled out from 9 feet of water, Warthin added. The Semi-Centennial Geyser, which has not erupted since 1922, is situated close to Roaring Mountain, between Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris Junction. Officials have not disclosed the identities of those involved and confirmed that an inquiry into the incident is ongoing.
