Stephen Curry evaluated as day-to-day following left ankle injury in victory against Wizards

SAN FRANCISCO — In a recent game, Stephen Curry sustained a left ankle injury during the closing moments of the Golden State Warriors’ success against the Washington Wizards on Saturday night and is now regarded as day to day.

Curry exited the match with just over a minute left when he got entangled with Jordan Poole of the Wizards. After contesting a shot from Poole, Curry rolled his ankle as Poole fell onto Curry’s right foot, causing him to lose his balance.

After the incident, Curry was seen limping around the court, attempting to shake off the discomfort during a timeout. However, he ultimately opted to leave for the locker room before the game concluded, enabling the Warriors to secure a 122-114 victory.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr commented on Curry’s situation, noting that the star player didn’t seem to believe the injury was severe, although he refrained from sharing detailed insights.

“Feels great,” Curry said in a brief remark after the game while sitting at his locker. “See you on Monday.”

Looking ahead, the Warriors are set to face the reigning champions, the Boston Celtics, at home on Monday.

At 36 years old, Curry is leading the Warriors in scoring during his 16th season in the league, with an average of 22.9 points per game before Saturday’s match.

Further compounding the Warriors’ concerns, Draymond Green also suffered a left calf injury during the game. He exhibited signs of limping after the first quarter, and Kerr confirmed that Green will undergo an MRI on Sunday. If Green is sidelined for a significant period, Moses Moody, who contributed 13 points against the Wizards, may receive an increase in playing time.
