Morant misses Spurs rematch, rendering him ineligible for NBA accolades after 18th absence.

SAN ANTONIO — Ja Morant was unable to play in the rematch between Memphis and San Antonio on Friday night due to discomfort in his right foot. As a result of this absence, the Grizzlies guard has lost eligibility for this season’s NBA postseason awards, having now missed 18 games.

To qualify for selection to All-NBA teams, the MVP award, and other honors, players must appear in at least 65 games throughout the season. With his missed game on Friday, Morant can only participate in a maximum of 64 games this year.

Initially listed as questionable prior to the game against the Spurs, Morant was officially ruled out approximately half an hour before the game commenced. His last performance was a notable one, where he scored 21 points and dished out 12 assists on Wednesday during the Grizzlies’ 129-115 comeback victory against the Spurs.

Despite facing significant time on the sidelines, Morant has been averaging 21.4 points and 7.5 assists in his sixth season. The Memphis Grizzlies currently hold a 26-15 record and sit in third place in the highly competitive Western Conference, showcasing their resilience even with Morant’s limited availability this season.
