Taylor Swift’s record-breaking world tour grossed more than a billion – and there are 78 more concerts

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour broke records as the highest-grossing music tour ever, surpassing $1 billion in revenue.

This achievement was reached in October, even before the tour concluded in December 2024 after 151 shows worldwide.

According to Pollstar, by October last year, the tour had already earned $1.04 billion, surpassing the record set by Elton John’s five-year farewell tour, which brought in $939 million over 328 shows.

Moreover, Swift’s sixth concert tour proved to be immensely popular, earning more than the combined revenue of the next two highest-grossing tours of the year: Beyoncé’s and Bruce Springsteen’s. Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour, with 56 dates, had already broken Madonna’s previous record for the highest-grossing tour by a female artist, earning $579 million between May and October, before being surpassed by The Eras Tour.

Described as a journey through all of Swift’s musical eras, each show of the tour was over 3.5 hours long, featuring a setlist of 44 songs divided into 10 acts. Critics praised the production concept, quality, and Swift’s performances. The dedicated fanbase, known as the Swifties, turned out in full force, causing ticketing site crashes, sold-out hotels, and even seismic activity at certain shows, like the one in Seattle in July.

With an average attendance of around 72,000 people per concert and ticket prices averaging $238, the tour grossed over $17 million per show. According to Pollstar, as of October, 4.3 million tickets had been sold, leaving the potential for the tour to earn billions more if all remaining scheduled shows were played.

There are 78 concerts planned in 2024, with the two-year-long concert series concluding in December. The Daily Mail reports, that the total revenue of the tour could reach $4 billion.

There were rumors recently, Swift could collaborate with Beyoncé for her new album, Renaissance: Act II. Various media sites have dismissed these claims as mere gossip. Entertainment Weekly just confirmed that a collaboration between the two artists is not true.

But Grammy-nominated producer Killah B teased fans, stating that they will have to wait and see if Swift appears on Act II, suggesting that Beyoncé is planning something remarkable on the album.

Recently, Swift performed in Tokyo and attended the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, where her boyfriend celebrated his Kansas City Chief’s win over the San Francisco 49ers.

On the financial side, Bloomberg News reported that Taylor Swift’s estimated net worth has reached approximately $1.1 billion, marking her billionaire era.

This is a significant increase from Forbes’ previous estimate of $740 million in 2024. Swift’s impressive net worth can be attributed to her massive album sales, songwriting royalties, real estate portfolio, acting and directing ventures, merchandise sales, brand deals, and of course, the groundbreaking success of the Eras Tour.
