The US Navy reports that a fighter aircraft carrying two people went down in Washington state during a training exercise.

On Wednesday, efforts were underway by the U.S. Navy to locate two aviators who went missing following the crash of their aircraft during a standard training exercise. This incident was reported by the Naval Air Station at Whidbey Island.

The aircraft involved was an EA-18G Growler jet, part of the Electronic Attack Squadron, which crashed to the east of Mount Rainier around 3:23 p.m. on Tuesday. In response, search operations were initiated, utilizing a U.S. Navy MH-60S helicopter deployed from NAS Whidbey Island to find the crew members and assess the crash site.

As of Wednesday morning, the two crew members had not yet been located, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The search and rescue operation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as details emerge.
