US alleges Iran provided Russia with short-range ballistic missiles for use in Ukraine

0

The United States has officially accused Iran of supplying short-range ballistic missiles to Russia for use in the war in Ukraine. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, while in London alongside British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, announced that sanctions would be imposed on those involved in the missile transfers. Blinken expressed concerns that Russia has received these missiles and is likely to use them against Ukrainians in the coming weeks.
The accusations against Iran surfaced over the weekend with reports indicating ongoing transfers of the missiles, as stated by U.S. officials speaking anonymously. Blinken confirmed on Tuesday that the transfers have been completed. In response to these allegations, Iran has denied providing weapons to Russia for the conflict in Ukraine.
Blinken and Lammy are scheduled to visit Ukraine together on Wednesday, underscoring the unity and urgency of addressing the escalating situation in the region.
