0

Keri-Lynn Wilson has taken on the role of music director for the Kyiv Camerata, succeeding Valery Matyukhin, who established the chamber orchestra in 1977 and passed away last year. In a statement, Wilson expressed her commitment to performing for Ukraine’s audiences and protecting the country’s cultural heritage from those who seek to undermine it. At 57 years old, Wilson, a Canadian-Ukrainian conductor, established the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. She is married to Peter Gelb, the general manager of the Metropolitan Opera.

Throughout her career, Wilson has conducted at prestigious venues such as the New York Philharmonic, Berlin’s Staatsoper unter den Linden, London’s Royal Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Paris Opéra, the Bavarian State Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera. Her upcoming debuts at the New York Philharmonic and Berlin’s Staatsoper unter den Linden mark significant milestones in her musical journey.
