In a report released by Iranian state TV, it was revealed that an official investigation into the May helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and seven others concluded that the crash was due to challenging climatic and atmospheric conditions. The report from the Supreme Board of the General Staff of the Armed Forces stated that the main factor behind the crash was the complex springtime weather conditions in the region.
The investigation report also mentioned the sudden thick fog that appeared and rose upwards, leading to the helicopter colliding with a mountain. Despite the tragic incident, the report confirmed that there were no signs of sabotage found in the helicopter’s parts and systems.
The fatal crash occurred in a remote mountainous area in northwestern Iran, claiming the lives of Raisi, his foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and six others.
