Josh Hoover guides TCU to a 34-27 win against Stanford in first game

TCU emerged victorious with a 34-27 win over Stanford in the season opener for both teams on Friday night. Quarterback Josh Hoover played a pivotal role in the victory, throwing for 353 yards and orchestrating the go-ahead touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter.

Coach Sonny Dykes commended his team for displaying mental toughness and resilience throughout the game. Hoover’s successful 74-yard drive culminated in a touchdown pass to Jack Bech, propelling the Horned Frogs to victory. Cam Cook also contributed with a late 7-yard touchdown run to seal the win.

Despite a strong effort from Stanford, they fell short in the crucial moments of the game. Quarterback Justin Lamson led the Cardinal with a touchdown run, but Stanford ultimately suffered their 10th consecutive home loss.

TCU managed to overcome a series of mistakes, including penalties, dropped passes, and turnovers, to secure the win. Dykes acknowledged the need for improvement to build on last season’s performance.

Stanford, under second-year coach Troy Taylor, will look to bounce back from the loss and secure their first home win. Despite a promising start, the Cardinal struggled to maintain offensive consistency and failed to convert key fourth-down plays.

Looking ahead, TCU is set to face Long Island University, while Stanford will host Cal Poly in their upcoming games. Both teams aim to make adjustments and showcase better performances in the following matchups.
