Two separate small plane accidents occurred in northeast Nebraska on Monday, leading to the death of at least one individual in Knox County’s Crofton area. The incidents happened within just 30 minutes of each other at approximately 9:30 a.m. The initial crash involved a Rans S-19 aircraft, while the second crash involved a Piper PA-28-140 plane near Wayne in Wayne County.
Authorities from the Nebraska State Patrol and Knox County Sheriff’s office confirmed the pilot’s fatality in the Crofton crash, indicating that no other individuals were onboard. As of Monday afternoon, the identity of the pilot had not been disclosed to the public. Further information regarding the second crash in Wayne County was not immediately released by the Wayne County Sheriff’s office.
The National Transportation Safety Board has initiated an investigation into the dual plane crashes in Nebraska to determine the causes behind these incidents. However, it is noted that the NTSB’s comprehensive investigative process typically spans over a year before final reports are issued.
