In Dayton, Ohio, a tragic incident occurred where a 12-year-old girl was fatally shot while sleeping in her bed as multiple shots were fired into three homes early Friday. Authorities are puzzled as to the motive behind the shootings, with no other injuries reported. The Dayton police suspect that there may have been at least two shooters involved, but the investigation is still ongoing.
The shootings took place at around 1 a.m., where over 30 rifle casings were found at the scene. The bullets were shot from the street towards the neighboring houses, all of which were hit by numerous shots. The young girl, whose identity has not been disclosed, was in an upstairs bedroom when she was struck. Her father and 11-year-old sister were also present in the house at the time. It remains uncertain whether anyone was inside the other two homes during the shooting, according to Dayton police Maj. Brian Johns.
