A teacher in New Orleans has recently been charged with sex trafficking involving a 16-year-old girl, federal authorities announced. Aaron Terod Johnson, 36, faces charges of child sex trafficking and other crimes in a federal complaint filed in New Orleans. The Department of Homeland Security conducted an investigation, which revealed that the victim met the teacher on Facebook. She stated that he picked her up in Vicksburg, Mississippi and took her to an apartment in New Orleans where he paid her for sex in March. Evidence presented in the affidavit includes Facebook Messenger conversations and video footage of Johnson’s car traveling between Louisiana and Mississippi in mid-March.

Johnson is currently in federal custody, as confirmed by court records. A public defender has been appointed to represent him, and has declined comment at this time. The school where Johnson worked has not been disclosed by authorities, whether it was a public or private institution.

According to a news release from Homeland Security Investigations, Johnson has been a teacher in the New Orleans area since last year. In light of his online activities and employment, HSI is asking for assistance from the public to identify potential victims that Johnson may have exploited or engaged with.
