Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter may reunite on Broadway in 2025 for ‘Waiting for Godot’

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, best known for their roles as slackers in the “Bill & Ted” movies, will reunite on Broadway for a revival of Samuel Beckett’s classic play “Waiting for Godot.” The play, set for fall 2025, will be directed by Jamie Lloyd, a four-time Tony nominee who is also working on a revival of “Sunset Boulevard” later this year.

“Waiting for Godot” tells the story of two tramps, Estragon and Vladimir, who are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the mysterious title character. The play combines vaudevillian humor with underlying themes of distress and despair.

Reeves is set to portray Estragon, while Winter will take on the role of Vladimir. The play first premiered on Broadway in 1956 and has been revived multiple times, with the most recent iteration in 2013 featuring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.

Following his success in “Bill & Ted,” Reeves went on to star in blockbuster franchises like “The Matrix” and “John Wick.” This production of “Waiting for Godot” will mark his Broadway debut. Winter, on the other hand, has previously appeared on Broadway in musical revivals of “The King and I” and “Peter Pan.”

In other theater news, Adam Driver is set to star in an off-Broadway production of Kenneth Lonergan’s “Hold on to Me Darling” at the Lucille Lortel Theatre this fall.
