Two teenagers who escaped from juvenile detention centers are arrested in Maine and Massachusetts

Two juveniles who recently escaped from Maine’s youth detention center have been apprehended by authorities in both Maine and Massachusetts. One of the escapees was captured after crashing a stolen car in Georgetown, Massachusetts, while the other was found following a hit-and-run in Biddeford, Maine. The identities of the juveniles have not been released due to their age.

The Maine Department of Corrections is currently investigating how the two individuals managed to escape from the Long Creek Youth Development Center on Friday night. This facility houses minors who have been convicted of crimes. The escapees reportedly stole their first getaway vehicle near an apartment complex close to the detention center. According to a witness interviewed by News Center Maine, the juveniles forcibly removed a motorist from her car and threw her to the ground before fleeing.
