Disneyland workers in Anaheim, California have approved new contracts after undergoing extensive negotiations. The agreements, which have been ratified by employees including ride operators and parking attendants, involve wage increases and alterations to sick leave policies. The minimum base wage is set to rise to $24 per hour this year, up from the previous rate of $19.90, as part of the three-year contracts. This decision followed discussions and potential strike threats by the 14,000 workers represented by a coalition of four unions at Disney’s California theme parks and resort area.

The coalition of unions released a statement expressing satisfaction with the outcome, attributing it to the dedication of hard-working cast members who advocated for fair treatment in the workplace. Disneyland, considered the second-most visited theme park globally, after Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Florida, voiced appreciation for its employees’ contributions. The majority of the over 35,000 workers across Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney in Anaheim are unionized.

Jessica Good, a resort spokesperson, highlighted the company’s commitment to its employees’ well-being and expressed contentment with the approval of the new agreements. The positive response from both workers and management indicates a mutual understanding of the importance of fair compensation and benefits in ensuring a positive work environment at the iconic theme park.
