Caitlin Clark, the rookie sensation from Indiana, recently set a WNBA record with 19 assists in the Fever’s game against the Dallas Wings. Despite her impressive performance, Clark expressed excitement for some rest during the WNBA’s monthlong hiatus for the Olympics. She has been on the go since September of the previous year, continuously playing basketball with little break.

After leading Iowa to the national championship game for the second year in a row, Clark was selected as the top overall pick in the WNBA draft. Following her draft, she made her preseason debut in a sold-out arena and continued to impress fans with her skills on the court. Although she will participate in the WNBA All-Stars game against the U.S. women’s Olympic team, Clark is looking forward to a brief break before resuming play with the Fever in August.

Despite her busy schedule and the attention she has garnered as a rising star in the league, Clark remains focused on her performance. Leading all rookies in points per game and assists, she has shown remarkable skill and determination on the court. Fever coach Christie Sides emphasized the importance of Clark getting some rest during the hiatus to recharge and decompress after a demanding season.

Since the start of Iowa’s season in November, Clark has played a total of 65 games, showcasing her endurance and dedication to the sport. Even amidst off-the-court drama and challenges, including discussions about race and tough fouls, Clark has maintained her composure and continued to excel in her rookie season in the WNBA. Looking ahead to the remainder of the season and potential playoffs, Clark remains optimistic and determined to make her mark in the league.
