Four reasons Joe Biden might consider withdrawing from the presidential race

President Joe Biden has reiterated his commitment to staying in the presidential race, emphasizing that he is resolute about continuing his candidacy regardless of the challenges. However, when questioned by journalists in recent weeks, Biden has hinted at certain circumstances that could lead him to reconsider running for president, especially as pressure from within his own party mounts.

During an interview with ABC News, Biden was asked by anchor George Stephanopoulos if he would step down if convinced he couldn’t defeat Donald Trump. In response, Biden maintained his determination, stating that he believed he was the most qualified to win the election. He humorously added that he might consider stepping aside only if the Lord Almighty himself told him to.

In another instance, Biden mentioned that he would be open to the possibility of withdrawing his candidacy if presented with concrete data showing that Vice President Kamala Harris would stand a better chance against Trump. However, he emphasized that no such indication had been provided to him yet.

In a lighter moment during an interview with Complex, Biden jokingly mentioned that the only scenario that could prevent him from being on the election ballot in November would be if he were to “get hit by a train.”

In a separate interview with BET, Biden brought up the topic of potential health concerns affecting his candidacy. He explained that if doctors diagnosed him with a serious medical condition that could impact his ability to serve as president, he would have to reassess his campaign.

Despite scrutiny over his age and health, Biden’s physician declared him fit to fulfill presidential duties after conducting a physical examination in February, which showed no signs of debilitating conditions like a stroke, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson’s disease. Additionally, a cognitive exam was deemed unnecessary, affirming Biden’s competency for the role.

In essence, while Biden remains resolute in his decision to run for president, he has humorously and cautiously alluded to certain circumstances that could prompt him to reconsider his candidacy.
