French players celebrating political victory before Euro 2024 semifinal

In Munich, at the European Championship, several France players are already in a celebratory mood thanks to the outcome of the elections in their home country. Following Sunday’s runoff parliamentary election, a leftist coalition in France secured the most parliamentary seats, thwarting the rise of the far right.
France midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni shared his joy by posting, “The victory of the People,” on social media. This win comes after the National Rally made significant gains in the first-round vote on June 30, raising concerns about the potential far-right governance in France for the first time since World War II.
Forward Marcus Thuram expressed his happiness on Instagram, praising those who stood up against the perceived threat to their country. He emphasized the importance of diversity, the Republic, and France, while reiterating the ongoing struggle for a better future.
Players like Kylian Mbappé and Jules Koundé have been vocal about the political climate in France, urging people to participate in parliamentary elections. Koundé highlighted the immense relief felt by many as France avoided being governed by the extreme right.
On a sports note, France is set to face Spain in the Euro 2024 semifinal in Munich on Tuesday, aiming to secure a spot in their fourth major final in the last eight years. If successful, they will compete against either England or the Netherlands in Berlin on Sunday.
