Yelich and Perkins lead Brewers to a 9-2 win over Dodgers, preventing a weekend sweep

Christian Yelich and Blake Perkins each hit a home run, secured three hits, and drove in three runs to help the Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-2 on Sunday, ending a seven-game losing streak at Dodger Stadium.

Eric Haase contributed with a two-run homer in the fifth inning as the Brewers managed to avoid a sweep in the series between the National League division leaders. The Brewers, one of three teams in the MLB to not have a losing streak of at least four games this season, showed resilience with their victory.

Yelich initiated the scoring with a two-run homer in the fourth inning against Dodgers’ pitcher Justin Wrobleski, who was debuting in the major leagues. Junis replaced starter Dallas Keuchel and clinched the win, allowing two runs in 2 2/3 innings. Chris Taylor hit a two-run shot for the Dodgers in the seventh inning.

Despite the defeat, the Dodgers remain two games ahead of the Brewers for the second-best record in the NL. The Dodgers will play a three-game series against Philadelphia, which currently holds the best record in the majors at 58-32.

Up next, the Brewers will face Pittsburgh for the start of a six-game homestand, while the Dodgers will send RHP Bobby Miller to the mound against the Phillies on Tuesday. RHP Devin Williams of the Brewers is set to throw a live batting practice before Tuesday’s game.

The Dodgers are monitoring the progress of LHP Clayton Kershaw, who might make a rehab start after a simulated game, and RHP Joe Kelly, who hit two batters during a simulated game.
