Chennedy Carter delivered a stellar performance, scoring a season-best 33 points, while rookie Angel Reese set a new WNBA record with her 12th consecutive double-double as the Chicago Sky triumphed over the Seattle Storm with a final score of 88-84 on Friday night. Carter shot 15 for 24, and Reese contributed a career-high 27 points and 10 rebounds. Reese, the league leader in rebounds (11.8 per game) and offensive rebounds (4.8), showcased her skills by shooting 8 of 13 from the field, 2 of 2 from beyond the arc, and sinking 9 of 10 free throws, including 4 crucial ones in the last 20 seconds. This streak of 12 double-doubles by Reese equals the WNBA record set by Candace Parker across the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Reese’s pivotal 3-pointer extended Chicago’s lead to 78-70 with 6:16 left in the game. Seattle’s Jewell Loyd and Ezi Magbegor chipped away at the deficit, but Jordan Horston’s 3-pointer and a couple of baskets by Magbegor brought the Storm to 84-82 with only 20.2 seconds remaining before Reese secured the victory from the charity stripe. Seattle, who had previously enjoyed a four-game winning streak by double-digit margins, now sits at a season record of 13-7. Horston excelled for the Storm, notching a season-high 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, with Nneka Ogwumike adding 16 points and Loyd contributing 13. Magbegor also stood out with 13 points, eight rebounds, and a career-best eight blocks, while Skylar Diggins-Smith finished with 12 points and nine assists. Rookie center Camila Cardoso also contributed significantly to Chicago’s win with nine points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.
