A young coyote pup died after being rescued by firefighters in California due to dehydration. The approximately 6-week-old coyote was found in an unincorporated area south of San Francisco. Photos on social media show the small coyote being cared for at a fire station in San Mateo County, where it was given water and food by firefighters from Cal Fire CZU. The rescuers noted that the pup seemed disoriented and was alone without its mother in sight. The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA later took over the care of the pup, who was dehydrated, malnourished, and struggling to open its eyes.
