Ashley Park is on the path to recovery after experiencing septic shock that impacted multiple organs and led to her hospitalization abroad. Despite the challenging situation, the Emily in Paris and Mean Girls star expressed overwhelming gratitude in an Instagram post on Friday.
Reflecting on the first few weeks of 2024, Park disclosed that what began as tonsillitis during her holiday in December escalated into critical septic shock, affecting several organs. Despite initial concerns, she conveyed gratitude for the improvement in her health.
Having battled leukemia as a teenager, Park extended special appreciation to her Emily in Paris co-star and rumored boyfriend, Paul Forman, for steadfastly supporting her throughout the ordeal.
In her Instagram post, she thanked Forman for calming her fears, being by her side through ambulances, foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, ER visits, scans, tests, injections, pain, and confusion, all while being far from familiar surroundings.
Park, who posted from Thailand in late December, was likely near the Maldives when she required hospitalization. She expressed deep gratitude to the medical professionals, ICU nurses, and the Joali Being team for their immediate response, language translations, and vital support. She also acknowledged her support team at home, including those handling insurance, Forman, her parents, and doctors.
In her message’s conclusion, Park admitted hesitating to share her experience while still in the recovery phase but assured her followers that she is now safely on the other side of the worst. Apologizing for her recent absence and expressing love to those in her life, she reassured everyone that she is healing and promised to be okay.
